AMALGAM

Amalgams are often referred to as “silver fillings” and are made from a combination of multiple metals, typically mercury and silver. However, Amalgam is mostly done after root canal and before placement of crown. It has more longevity and low cost.

COMPOSITE

Composite fillings are mostly regarded for their versatile aesthetics that comes with the close color matching of teeth with the filling. Its micro-mechanical bond to the tooth structure provides further support while biting and chewing. Many people question how long composite fillings last, so the answer is they may not last as long as amalgam fillings and stay secure only for a period of 5 years in good oral health condition. These fillings can be a bit costly than amalgam ones and get chipped off more easily.

You can always discuss your dental filling options with our dentist who will first schedule a visit for your complete analysis and then advise which filling will be suitable for you.

Root canal treatment

A root canal is a procedure used to save and restore a severely damaged or infected tooth. A deep cavity can cause the tooth’s nerve to become irritated, inflamed, and infected. The tooth’s pulp and nerve are removed during a root canal operation. Next, a rotary device is used to clean the tooth’s small channels. For comfort, the tooth is then sterilized and sealed with a permanent filling. This procedure hardly takes 20 minutes.

Dental crowns and bridges

Dental crowns may be used for various reasons when a tooth has been severely decayed or cracked. As a result, a filling cannot strengthen a tooth sufficiently or replace enough of the tooth. Parts of a broken tooth are then held together by the crown thus improving both it’s strength and appearance. To make a crown one needs 2-3 appointments, depending on the difficulty of the case.

Dental bridges can be used to replace missing teeth by using the support of adjacent teeth. They have fallen down the list of preferred treatments for replacing missing teeth since the introduction of implants. Fixed bridges are not only more comfortable to wear than removable dentures, they also last longer and are preferred to removable dentures because of their durability.

We provide crowns and bridges in two different materials like Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) and, more recently, Metal-Free Zirconia crowns and bridges.

Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns offer a long-lasting, and aesthetic treatment option. They are preferred for your posterior teeth because they may be more durable.

Zirconia crowns can be used for the front cosmetic makeover of your teeth to give you the perfectly straight, brilliantly white Hollywood smile you may have always desired.
